A preliminary hearing was held in the Thomas “Tommy” Christopher Andrews case in General Sessions Court on Tuesday February 16. Andrews was charged with rape and statutory rape on December 13, 2015, by investigators from the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.
During the course of the hearing, Sheriff Clint Shrum was called to testify and explained the alleged incident was brought to his attention by the victim’s mother. Sheriff Shrum testified to some text message exchanges that resulted in further investigation and an arrest warrant.
Chief Deputy Tony Bean testified to the service of the arrest warrant at Andrew’s home. Andrew’s did not take the stand.
The case was bound over to the grand jury.
