Grundy County Safe Schools Coordinator, Brad Dees arranged the active shooter training at Tracy City Elementary on September 19. According to Dees, the active shooter drill was an overwhelming success. The students who participated in the drill were evacuated to safety and in transit to the hospital within 33 minutes, thanks to the wonderful staff of the local police departments and Grundy EMS. Mr. Dees would like to thank the following for their attendance and support of this important event to keep the students of Grundy County safe: Jessie Kinsey, Grundy County Director of Schools; Grundy County School Board members, Bobby Foster and Janie Layne; Don Hutcheson and all the Grundy EMS staff members; Chief Wilder and the Tracy City Police Department; Monteagle Police Chief Virgil McNeece; Grundy EMA Director Dennis Jones, Haskel Meadows, Russell Meeks and Daniel Crabtree; Principal Glenda Dykes and the faculty, staff, and children of Tracy City Elementary; 911 Dispatch Center; Sgt. James Benham of the US Marines; Tracy City Fire Department; Grundy County Sheriff’s Department Officers Matt Kilgore and SRO Jeremy Thomas; and Tennessee State Trooper Tim Spicer who helped locate supplies for the scenario.
