Veteran awards

On November 11, Ms. Beth Brown, English teacher at Grundy County High School, presented three juniors with the Bill and Mendia Patton Patriotic Award. This award is given each Veteran’s Day to the top essay winners at GCHS. In the nine years presenting this award, this is the first time siblings have won. Not pictured is Harley Meeks, second place winner. This year’s essay topic was “Veterans have served America in many capacities. Specifically, why do local veterans deserve our support, respect, and understanding? If you could deliver a message to a veteran, what would you include in that message?” Read these winning essays under “education” on this website.
