PALMER TOWN HISTORIAN
Big Creek Utility District, at the dam in Coalmont, is a reporting station for the National Weather Service so let’s see what they recorded in 2019.
Total rainfall for the year was 77.23 inches. February was the wettest month with 13.93 inches, but things really dried out in September with only 0.96 inches.
The all-American holiday of July 4 is a day of parades and cookouts, and the high was a pleasant 84 degrees and the low 62 degrees. In an unusual twist, October 4 was the hottest day of the year at 92 degrees. The coolest days of the year were at 11 degrees on January 21, January 22, January 31, and November 13. For those who remember the big snows of years past, the total for 2019 was only 2.0 inches, and that came on December 11.
“Rain, rain, go away!” But it hasn’t so far. January 2020 started off with a whopping 10.19 inches.
