SINGLETON, FRANCIS, ALBERT, “FRANKIE,” 53, passed away at his home Saturday, January 11, 2014. He was a veteran of the Tennessee National Guard and US Army. He was born in Altamont on December 2, 1960 to Jackson C. and Nelline Burnett Singleton who preceded him in death along with his son, Francis C. Singleton; sister, Shelia James Pelham; brother, Jackson C. Singleton. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Lynn Johnson Singleton; son, Jackson C. Singleton; daughters, Carol Singleton, Amanda (Mekya) Adams, Beronica Singleton, Nellie Singleton and Charlotte Anderson; sister, Belinda Stephens; 8 grandchildren. A memorial service was held Tuesday, January 14 in the funeral home chapel with Minister Clayton Jones officiating. Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer TN.
MEEKS, JOYCE, CHARLENE, of Tracy City, TN, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at Grandview Medical Center in Jasper, TN. She was born November 8, 1956 in Coalmont, TN to the late Frank Ray Meeks and Hassie Smartt Meeks. She is in no pain and we will all get to see her again one day. She will be missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her best friend, Barbara Meeks. Survivors include her loving husband Danny Ray Meeks; daughter and son-in-law, Cristie and Jacky Fults of Gruetli-Laager; son, Danny Mark Meeks of South Pittsburg; four grandchildren, Tyler Meeks, Alexis Meeks, Christian Gallagher, and Destinee Gallagher; one brother and three sisters. Services were held Thursday, January 9 in the chapel of Foster and Lay Funeral Home with Reverend Andy Lockhart officiating. Burial was in Plainview Cemetery. SHOULTZ, BONNIE, L., age 65, of Cowan, TN, passed away January 4, 2014 at her home. She was a retired CNA and cook and was born in McMinnville, TN the daughter of the late Hershel Glen Brady (Toot-A-bill) and Hazel Louise Campbell Caldwell. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward R. Shoultz; brothers, Grady Tate and Richard Tate; sister, Glenda Shelton; son, James Nolan and a granddaughter, Tosha Oday Nolan. Survivors include Shirley (Buck) Bone of Gruetli-Laager, Brenda (Larry) Burns of Cowan, Jesse (Pete) Tate of Tracy City, Allen (Crystal) Caldwell of Tracy City and Ellen (Teri) Meeks of Estill Springs; sons, Gary (Beth) Nolan of Tracy City, Glen Allen Nolan of Gruetli-Laager, and Donnie (Rhonda) Nolan of Palmer; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Bonnie and her husband lived in Florida for 15 years where they owned a bar called Dew Drop Inn. She also worked in Brandywyne Nursing Home as a CNA. She loved reading and tending to her roses when she wasn’t on the road with Ed. She also loved to spend time with family and friends. She was a kind, loving person. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 8 in the chapel of Foster and Lay Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Rigsby and Reverend Clayton Jones officiating. Burial was in Wesley’s Chapel Cemetery. ROYSDON, NONA, FAY, SHADRICK, age 71, of Jamestown, TN, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by parents, Cecil and Flora Mills Shadrick and brother Buck Shadrick. Survivors include her husband J.C. Roysdon, daughter Kathy M. Green, and son Robert K. Green all of Jamestown, TN; 3 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held January 5 at the Jennings Funeral Homes Chapel in Jamestown. MELTON, CONNIE, MARIE, PARSONS, 42, passed away peacefully in her home while sleeping Saturday, January 11, 2014. Born November 16, 1971, she was a lifelong resident of the Clouse Hill community of Tracy City, TN. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Howard and Rachael Parsons; Hamp and Tressie Thomas; uncles, Charlie Parsons, A.P. Jack, and William Thomas, all of Tracy City. Survivors include her high school sweetheart and husband of nearly 26 years, Michael Melton; daughters, Tiffany and Chasity Melton; parents, Randell and Janice Parsons; brother, W.R. Parson, all of Tracy City; sister, Amanda (Michael) Parmley of Navarre, FL; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, a large extended family as well as many, many special friends, and treasured pets, purebred toy poodles Jagger and Jasmine. Connie, a beloved daughter, wife, and mother was a talented beautician. She was the owner and operator of her own business, Shear Magic Plus for more than 10 years. Artistically inclined, she was gifted in interior and floral design. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Rarely did she encounter a person that was not captivated by her warm, beautiful smile and contagious laugh. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 15 with Pastor Gene Parsons officiating. A graveside service was held at Clouse Hill Community Cemetery following the funeral service. He is survived by his loving parents, Kara Campbell of Pelham, TN and Johnathan Layne of Tracy City, TN; maternal grandparents, Mark and Sammy Ladd of Pelham, TN and Steve and Julia Campbell of Monteagle, TN; paternal grandparents, Johnny and Sheila Layne of Tracy City, TN. CAUTHEN, MARY, ELIZABETH, AYLOR, age 87, of Monteagle, TN, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 2, 2014. She was a daughter of the late Sylvester Aylor and Georgia Lee Bradford Aylor and was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Cauthen; sisters, Ann Hoffman, Barbara Lint, Marlene Kitsenble and Kate Fullwood. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Monteagle and was retired from the food service business, where she had been a restaurant manager. Survivors include her daughters, Annie (Thomas Ray) Stubblefield and Betty (Lorene) Cordes of Monteagle; sister, Sue Moore, Lakeworth, FL; brothers, L.V. Aylor, Summerville, FL and George Aylor, West Palm Beach, FL; 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
