WHITMAN, GEORGIA, LUCILLE, 81, passed away July 21, 2010. She loved to quilt and garden. The most important thing to her was giving to others in the manner of compassionate service. She was a good role model for her children and grandchildren and loved all of her friends and family very much. She was born June 2, 1929 to Vernon and Estelle Fults Killian who preceded her in death along with her husband, Glesty Hoyet Whitman; brothers, Arthur and Jerry Killian. She is survived by her daughters, Connie Lynne (Rick) Norman and Cheryl Ann (Del) Baker; sons, Dennis Franklin (Debbie) Whitman and Les Vernon (Terrie) Whitman; sisters, Alene (Moss) Campbell, Helen (the late Johnnie) Sanders; brother, Raymond (Martha) Killian; sisters-in-law, Geraldine and Betty Killian; loving grandchildren, Josh, Este, Adam, J.D., Jeremy, Dusty, Justin, Carolyn, Jessie, Jamie and Jeff; great grandchildren, Breuklyn, Maddux, Paizlee and Ava. Funeral services were held Friday, July 23 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Altamont, of which she was a devoted member. Burial was in Altamont City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimerfs Foundation and Hospice. A special thank you to Bailey Manor of Manchester for all of the love and special care she received. TAYLOR, EVELYN, age 95, of Monteagle, Tennessee, passed away at her home, Tuesday, July 20, 2010. She was a retired teacher and a member of Morton Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Taylor. Survivors include her son, Tom Taylor of Murfreesboro; daughter, E. Carole Taylor (Bridget Logue) of Monteagle; 4 grandchildren, Leigh (Greg) King, Issac (Raemone) Taylor, Rachel Taylor and Jordan Taylor; 2 great grandchildren, Alex and Katie. Graveside services were held Thursday, July 22 at Monteagle Cemetery with the Reverend Jan Harlow officiating. A memorial service followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall was held at Morton Memorial United Methodist Church with the Reverend Gerald Richardson and Reverend J.D. BURNETT, MCBEE, DORIS, O., 87, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010. She was born in Palmer on May 3, 1923 to Alfred and Delia Parsons McBee who preceded her in death along with her brothers, Jimmy and Alvin Wade McBee; sister, Dorothy Meeks Geary Ross. She was a retired school teacher from the Grundy County School System,@a 50 year member and@Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star number 266 Tracy City Chapter and 43 year member of Saint Bernards Episcopal Church.@She is survived by her husband, Ralph Burnett; daughters, Ann (Joe) Nunley and Vicki (Ricky) Ruehling; son, Edwin "Andy" (Dale) Burnett; grandchildren; Jamie (Tina) and Donnie (Cristal) Cooper, Patrick and Kristie Burnett, Dusty and Davy Ruehling; great grandchildren, Tanner, Austyn, Jesse, Wyatt, Kollyn, Jacob, Graycee and Noah; several loving nieces and nephews. SANDERS, JAMES, A., "JIM," age 84, of Tracy City, TN, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2010 at The Bridge in Monteagle. He was a retired forklift operator at Cherokee Warehouse in Chattanooga, a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran and was preceded in death by his wife, Loraine Sanders; parents, Sidney J. and Willie May Myers Sanders; brothers and sisters, Mary Nell Davis, Elizabeth Hobbs, Lucille Calvin, Arthur Sanders, Pete Sanders, and Earl Sanders. Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Cato; sister, Evelyn Igou; grandchildren, Derrick (Christy) Smartt and Brittany Smart; great grandchildren, Paige Smartt and Tyler Smartt, all of Tracy City; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 28 in the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Ernest Lockhart officiating. Burial was in Plainview Cemetery with military honors. CHASE, RICHARD, A., "DICK," 79, of Tracy City, TN, former resident of Port St. Lucie, FL, passed away July 15, 2010 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN to his eternal home. He was born February 15, 1931 in Meadville, PA to F. Harvey and Marjorie Chase. He served in the U.S Air Force from 1948 to 1958 and was a Korean War Veteran. He retired from E.J. Brach and Sons Candy Company after 25 years in sales in 1986. He moved to Florida and established DSL Distributors, a vending company, for 17 years. His love of cars and racing sports cars was reflected in membership in SCCA, VCCA, SVRA, sports car clubs for 50 years. He was a member of HOA Spanish Lakes Golf Village, an envoy member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. He was remembered by family friends as the "candy man." He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue; daughter Leahbeth Yap; grandson, Alexander Chase Yap of Winter Garden, FL; and daughter, Marjorie Schroeder of Pewawkee, WI. A celebration of life was held Tuesday, July 20 at Christ Church Parish Hall with Rev. Dr. Linda Hutton officiating. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Childrenfs Hospital or charity of choice.
