She was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Monteagle and was preceded in death by her parents Kans and Gertrude Buchanan; brothers, D.C., Hershel, DS, Hollis, and Emlis Buchanan; sisters, Olla Mae Benson, Mary Lizzy Sims, and Ruby Simmons. Survivors include her husband, Paul Patton; daughter, Linda (Roger) Everett; sister, Aurean Payne; grandchildren, Mike (Angela) Everett, Stacie (Josh) Grizzell, Mark (Monica) Everett; great grandchildren, Kayla Everett, Becca Everett, Caleb Grizzell, Katherine Everett, Brett Everett, Brady Everett, and Ian Grizzell. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 18 at Monteagle First Baptist Church with Dr. Darryl Smiley and Rev. Eddie Miller officiating. Burial was in Warren Cemetery, Pelham, TN. SMITH, JEWELL, BEATRICE, 85, of Monteagle, TN, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Steven Smith and Christopher Smith. Survivors include her children, William D. "Buster" (Lola) Smith, Tracy City; Linda F. (Max) Culpepper, Sewanee; Mary Katherine (Ladue) Bouldin, Tracy City; three brothers, Benny King, Johnny King, and Denny King; three sisters, Imogene Powell, Mae King and Mary Daggett, Ohio; three grandchildren, Alexandria Powell, Arianna Bruno and Captain Jason Bruno, U.S. Army. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Clayton Jones officiating. Burial was in Monteagle Cemetery. TERRILL, RICHARD, ERNEST, "ZEKE," 92, of Sewanee, TN, died July 16, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Winchester.
He was the son of Matt and Rachel Terrill. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the 4th Armored Division (Hell on Wheels). Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Emma Grace Terrill and brothers Claude "Crook," Walter "Crip," James "Cotton," Arthur, J.D. "Peck," Charles "Jake," and Donald. He is survived by daughter Randa (Tom) Meeks of Coalmont; brother, Freeland "Peg" (Babe) Terrill of Sewanee; grandchildren, Tammy (Troy) Elliott of Coalmont and Tommy Meeks of Murfreesboro; great grandchildren, Shawnee Scissom, Noah Meeks, and Peyton Meeks; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 18 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Harry Green officiating. Interment was at Eastern Star Cemetery in Sewanee with military honors. KNOTT, CHARLES, DOUGLAS, age 82, of Monteagle, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2010 at Park Ridge Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim Henry Knott and Mary Eldridge Williams. He was a World War II Navy veteran and member of the VFW and American Legion. Survivors include his daughters, Wanda E. Cheston, Sewanee, TN; Debora A. Parson, Tracy City, TN; sisters, Frances Elizabeth Cowan, Cowan, TN; Mary Margaret, Bahrs Long Beach, MS; Roxanna Rice, Columbus, OH; Johnnie Marion Caldwell, Flowery Branch, GA; 4 grandchildren, 6 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 21 in the funeral home chapel with Bishop William Millsaps officiating. Burial was in Harrison Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Rhonda Kay Fults; daughters, Amanda Kay Fults; Tonya Ann Fults; and Jennifer Lynn Fults, all of Monteagle, TN; brothers, Carl David Nunley and Bobby Locke, both of Monteagle, TN; 7 grandchildren. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 22 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Clayton Jones officiating.
