The Lady Jackets and Jackets played three games last week with the Lady Jackets picking up two wins and the Jackets getting three wins. The Lady Jackets defeated Richard Hardy 71-40 and Huntland 49-48. They fell to Moore County 64-51. The Jackets defeated Richard Hardy 79-61, Moore County 59-46, and Huntland 65-49.
Lady Jackets 71 – Richard Hardy 40
The Lady Jackets were a tough matchup for the Lady Hawks. The Lady Jackets led the entire game and every player seen playing time.
Kristin Weaver led the way with 12 points. Teah Bosio followed with 11 points including a three. Peyton Mainord scored eight points. Emily Rhea and Caitlyn Crabtree each had seven points with Rhea hitting a three. Lacy Nunley had two three’s. McKenzie Broadway, Ragan Meeks, Kierra Hobbs and Kristen Stiefel all had four points. Delaney Hughes and Leah Hiett scored two points each.
Moore Co 64 – Lady Jackets 51
It was a slow start for the Lady Jackets as they were down 19-34 at the half and only scoring 12 points in the third quarter of play against a tough Moore County defense. The Lady Jackets were beginning to wear down the Lady Raider defense in the final quarter as they put up 20 points with ten of those coming from Kristin Weaver, but it wasn’t enough to take the lead.
Lacy Nunley led the Lady Jackets with 16 points including three from behind the arc. Weaver followed with 15 with three treys. Teah Bosio scored 11 with one three. Peyton Mainord had five points. McKenzie Broadway and Kierra Hobbs had two points each.
Lady Jackets 49 – Huntland 48
The Lady Jackets led after the first quarter 14-11 in an exciting back and fourth game. At the half, Huntland had the lead by one and led by two at the end of the third. The Lady Jackets came out in the fourth with tight defense and outscored the Lady Hornets claiming a one point victory.
Lacy Nunley led with 16 points with three threes. Kristin Weaver was right behind her with 14 points including two threes. Teah Bosio had seven points. Peyton Mainord and Delaney Hughes scored four points each. Ragan Meeks and Kristen Stiefel had two points.
Jackets 79 – Richard Hardy 61
After one quarter of play, Richard Hardy was leading 21-14 but it didn’t take long after that for the Jackets to get in the groove as they put up 27 points in the second quarter to take a one point lead at the half. The Jackets held the Hawks to only four points in the third while they scored 24 points taking a commanding lead and sealing the win.
Senior Noah Bean led the way with 25 points including two threes. Kenzie Hill followed with 13 points hitting three from behind the arc. Cullen Anderson had 11 points including a three. Trey Hampton scored 10 points with a three. Jordan Hackworth hit two threes and had eight points. Blane Harris scored four points. Corbin Lusk, Cody Esslinger, Jaden Nance and Chris Nance all had two points each.
Jackets 59 – Moore Co 46
The Jackets came out fired up and ready to play holding Moore County to only six points in the first while they put 17 points on the board. The Jackets maintained the lead the rest of the game picking up their second win for the week.
Noah Bean again led the Jackets with 14 points with a three. Cullen Anderson and and Trey Hampton score nine points with Anderson hitting a three. Jordan Hackworth hit two from downtown for six points. Blane Harris, Josh Nance, and Kenzie Hill all had five points each. Corbin Lusk scored three points. Eli Tipton had two points and Tyler Patrick tossed in one point.
Jackets 65 – Huntland 49
Picking up their third win of the week, the Jackets again dominated offensively and defensively. It was a 20-5 first quarter lead and a 33-18 lead at the half for the Jackets. The Jackets continued to keep the lead and dominate the rest of the game.
Senior Trey Hampton led the Jackets with 15 points with a three. Seniors Blane Harris and Noah Bean followed with 12 points with Harris hitting two from three point land. Kenzi Hill had 10 points including two threes. Cullen Anderson scored five points. Josh Nance and Cody Esslinger had four points each. Jordan Hackworth scored two points and Corbin Lusk had one point.
Grundy will travel to Sequatchie for a big rivalry game on Friday. Tuesday they will host Franklin County. Tipoff is at 6 p.m.
