Ashley Green, an eighth grader at Monteagle Elementary School, capped her final Big 8 basketball season with a total of 722 points for her last two years as a middle school Lady Hornet. Her highest scoring game of this season, against Coalmont Elementary School, saw her drop 37 points – an MES scoring record.
Ashley has played basketball since the second grade, beginning as a Mighty Mutt in Junior Pro. She has been a Lady Hornet since third grade, begging her coaches Marilu Brewer and Louie Ladd to play her in varsity games. But, the Lady Hornets varsity squad had to wait until Ashley’s fifth grade year to put her on the court. She started every game during her sixth, seventh, and eighth grade years.
During the off-season, Ashley plays travel ball for the Tennessee Tide out of Manchester. Her coaches and teachers say Ashley, the daughter of Doug and Roxann Green, is a very accomplished young lady on and off the court. At the end of the current season, Ashley was named to the Big 8 All-Tournament team and named MVP of the All-Conference team.
We wish you the best in high school, Ashley, and are excited to follow your basketball career.
