UPDATE 5:58 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2017: The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the body discovered in the Grundy Forest is that of 25-year-old Brandon Price of Tracy City. According to Sheriff Clint Shrum, a hiker found the body of Price in an area between Werner Point and Sycamore Falls.
“The preliminary investigation does not give us any reason to believe there was foul play, but we will not rule anything out until the autopsy has been completed,” stated Shrum.
Price was reported missing from his home on January 6. Investigators initially believed Price was possibly headed to California where his father lived. The body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office in Nashville.
UPDATE 1:18 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2017: An update from Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum offers a few more details about the body and its location and rescue.
The body has not been identified but it is a white male. 10 to 12 park rangers are working to remove the body. they will have to hike in to the north end of Grundy Forest for the removal and the high angle rescue team is on standby in case they are needed.
Grundy County Sheriff Clint Shrum says State Park Rangers are currently making plans for the removal of the body. Shrum has called in the DA and the TBI to investigate.
“It appears the body has been there a while,” stated Shrum.
