Big 8 Basketball

The Big 8 season is nearing the mid-point with both Big 8 defending champs remaining the only two teams undefeated. The North Lady Warriors took the win over the Coalmont Lady Rebels leaving them the only girls team left undefeated. The Tracy Eagles defeated the Monteagle Hornets by one point to put the Swiss Wildcats as the only boys team left undefeated. There have been many great games seen so far this season with plenty of basketball still left to play. The Jingle Bell Christmas Tournament held at the high school has also started and will be being played through December 18.
Girls
SAS 34 – Swiss 26
The Lady Wildcats started off slow but made a run in the second quarter to tie the game at 14-14 at the half. Lakin Laurendine was too much for the Lady Wildcats as she led the Lady Mountain Lions to victory with 26 points. Madison King scored eight points. Maggie Baskin and Jaycie Grooms led the Lady Wildcats with eight points. Kimber Thomas followed with six points. Briley Dempsey and Kailey Grooms scored two points each.
Palmer 33 – Pelham 23
The Lady Bulldogs took a 10 point win over the Lady Tigers. Maci Freeman led the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points. Sophie Layne followed with eight points. Shanea Wideman had seven points. Kasadee Crabtree scored three points and Ayla Hoy tossed in two points. Stevie King and Chloe Wenger had four points for the Lady Tigers. Torri Taylor scored three points. Kati Davidson, Heavenee Parks, Haivenly Doss, Emily Hill, Kaitlyn Clark and Abi Seagroves all scored two points each.
North 48 – Coalmont 35
The two undefeated teams were tied at the end of the first quarter at 7-7. At the half, The Lady Warriors were up 21-19. The Lady Rebels kept it close after the half but never could regain the lead. The Lady Warriors remain undefeated for the season. Jalie Ruehling led the Lady Warriors with 14 points. Kaylee Smartt followed with 11 points. Kaitlyn Kirby had eight points. Carlee Smartt scored seven points. Lacie Woodlee had six points and Wrylee McDaniel tossed in two points. Jordan McCullough led the Lady Rebels with 13 points. Charlsie Campbell followed with nine points. Abigail Childers had eight points. Kylee Whited scored three points and Olivia Nunley had two points.
Monteagle 16 – Tracy 11
The Lady Hornets picked up a win defeating the Lady Eagles 16-11. Breezy Rollins led the Lady Hornets with 10 points. Kendal Winton scored four points and Cassie Ladd had two points. Elizabeth Parvin had three points for the Lady Eagles. Maddy Shrum, Angelia Sanders, Shelby Nunley, and Morgan King all scored two points each.
Boys
Swiss 43 – SAS 31
The Swiss Wildcats took the win over the Mountain Lions jumping off to a big lead and holding the lead the entire game. Dawson Misiolek and Jordan Nance led the Wildcats with 10 points. Matt Borne followed with eight points. Ian Stotts, Jacob Partain and Jonathan Nolan all had five points each with Stotts hitting a three. Mac Croom led the Mountain Lions with 12 points. Elijah Seavey scored five points. Raulston Barrett had four points. Cecil Rodgers contributed with three points. Rylan Thomas had two points and Cason Harmon tossed in one point.
Pelham 47 – Palmer 32
Taking the lead early, the Tigers held the lead the entire game defeating the Bulldogs. Lyden King led the Tigers with 19 points. Chase Layne followed with 17 points. Peyton Price had 6 points. Justin Jacobs scored three points and Reagan Harshman had two points. Levi Nance led the Bulldogs with 11 points. Braden Hornbuckle followed with 10 points. Gunner Meeks scored six points and Bailey Totherow had five points.
North 39 – Coalmont 30
The Warriors were down by one at the half and came back in the second half to claim the win over the Rebels. Kaleb Hartenstein led the Warriors with 13 points. Jarod Huntley followed with 10 points. Issac Campbell had five points. Peyton Huntley and Jagger Brady both had four points each. Lucas Campbell scored two points and Luke Rymer tossed in one point. Austin Higgins led the Rebels with 15 points. Jathen Yokley had seven points. Ian Shrum scored six points and LahDonte Wiseman had two points.
Tracy 38 – Monteagle 37
The Eagles had a 21-13 lead at the half. The Hornets came out after halftime making a comeback but came up one point short. The Eagles hung on to their lead to take the win. Jr Crisp led the Eagles with 12 points. Sam Parson followed with 10 points. Tyler Byers scored nine points. Alex Parson had six points and Brook Gudger tossed in one point. Jacob Church led the way for the Hornets with 20 points. Caden Rose scored seven points. Riley Hammond and Hunter Hannah had five points each.
