Volleyball Splits Last Two Games

This past Saturday, the Lady Jackets participated in Coffee County’s varsity tournament. The girls played excellent winning games against Fayetteville, Lincoln County and Sante Fe and losing to White County during pool play. This allowed Grundy to be ranked in the Gold division for the single elimination tournament where a talented Eagleville eliminated them.     The GCHS Golf Teams have been wrapping up both regular season and District Tournament play over the past week or so. The Boys squad participated in the Willowbrook Invitational on August 27, which attract several if the top teams in Middle Tennessee.     The Lady Jackets split games last week falling to Notre Dame and defeating Bledsoe County. “The girls continue to work hard and improve. I’m proud of their effort,” said Coach Allison Borne. Grundy fell to Notre Dame September 2, by 7-25, 21-25 and 11-25 scores. Megan Haynes had 12 assists and 5 digs. Summer Shipley notched 16 digs. Taylor Floyd had 7 kills and 5 digs.   • GCXC Wins Season Opener

    On Tuesday afternoon, the temperature hovered around 94 degrees as the GCHS Cross Country Team ran their first race of the season in Winchester. As part of a new region, the Middle Tennessee Cross Country Association, the Yellow Jackets faced runners from Franklin, Lincoln, Moore and Warren Counties.     The Junior Jackets moved to 2-0 on the season defeating Bledsoe County last Thursday by a 24-8 score. Leading the offense was Josh Wingo with 8 carries for 172 yards and 3 touchdowns.     The Grundy Golf Team continued the 2014 season the past couple of weeks with matches at Willowbrook and Sewanee. The boy’s team picked up a win against Cannon County and took losses to Coffee County, St. Andrews-Sewanee, and Chattanooga Christian School.
