    Elk River Floods Paynes Cove Road in  Pelham

    According to the latest rainfall totals of 7.2 inches of rain that fell in the Grundy County area last week, Pelham Fire Chief Billy Hill and Assistant Chief Travis Lawyer set up a command post at Bethel Church last Sunday, preparing to rescue possible flood victims in the Pelham area. EMA Director Steve Sabados was notified of the situation and Monteagle, Tracy City, and Beersheba Springs Fire and Rescue units

    George Shinn, who has been a South Cumberland State Park ranger for 13 years and is stationed at Savage Gulf, was recently selected Park Ranger of the Year by the Tennessee Park Rangers Association. According to fellow South Cumberland ranger Bill Knapp, “George is an honest, organized, and professional ranger. He supports his co-workers however he can. He is there to bring up morale or to lend a helping hand.”
