Celebrating Weights and Measures Week

  The Tennessee Department of Agriculture will celebrate Weights and Measures week March 1-7, 2015. Weights and measures inspectors keep pace with rapidly advancing technologies to ensure fairness in the marketplace.     The 2014 TCAP results show improvements across every high school subject and consistent scores for grades 3-8 across Tennessee. Statewide, more than half of the districts made gains in 3-8 math.     Trooper Timothy (Sam) Johnson of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security visited Tracy City Elementary Pre-K. Trooper Johnson talked to the children about riding in their booster seats. He gave the children sticker badges, hats, coloring books and crayons, and child safety information books were sent home to the families.     GCHS Students Develop

    The Grundy County High School Vocational Agriculture students, with assistance from Mike Cordell owner of Cumberland Mountain Conifers, have added several shade trees to the Outdoor Classroom site at the school. Mr. Cordell provided the trees and demonstrated the use of specialized nursery equipment to move the trees. Students were taught how to set the trees properly and gained “hands on” experience.
