Three write-in candidates have qualified for the August 7 election in Grundy County. Voters will have the option of choosing a write –in candidate for the offices of County Trustee, Road Superintendent, and District 3 School Board.
Voting for a write-in requires an extra step at the voting booth.
First, you must select ‘write-in’ for the particular race. This button is listed under the candidates’ names who are not considered write-ins.
The screen will change and the letters of the alphabet will appear. Place an ‘X’ beside each letter in the write-in candidate’s name. (For example, if the write-in candidate’s name is Smith, place an ‘X’ next to S-M-I-T-H). The candidate’s name, SMITH, will then be spelled out in the center of the screen.
Once you have typed in the candidate’s name, simply press the done button to accept and return to the former screen.
You should now see SMITH with an ‘X’ beside or underneath the name and you can continue with the ballot.
Remember, you can always ask an election worker to help you with this process.
