The Lady Jackets have had a much better week winning three of their last four contests including a big win over DeKalb County. Now on the season the girls are 11-12 overall and remain 2-2 in district play.
“I’m real proud of the girls and the fight they’re showing. We’re still not playing our best ball. We show signs of it. We played a very sharp game against Tullahoma. Then we came out in front of the student body and played very crisp against DeKalb. When you win a ball game with three hits you’re working hard.
The second game against DeKalb we had a chance to take it away. They got some lucky hits but when you keep throwing the bat at it aggressively you’re going to get some lucky hits. That’s what we’re looking for. We’ve got to be more aggressive with our sticks and make plays when you get runners in scoring position.
We avenged a loss tonight. We felt like we gave one away against South Pittsburg in the Hits for Hope tournament. We’re shooting to be playing top ball May 1. Come then we need to be primed and firing on all cylinders and look to make some noise in the district tournament,” said Coach Jason Evans.
Tuesday Grundy hosted Cascade for a doubleheader. Today they host Signal Mountain at 5:00. Monday they travel to Tullahoma for a 5:00 JV game and a 7:00 varsity contest. Marion County comes to the Mountain for senior night on Tuesday at 5:00. The district tournament begins May 1. Get out and support the Lady Yellow Jackets this week!
