The Lady Jackets held a first quarter lead over Moore County Friday but a 16-8 second quarter put Moore in the lead for most of the rest of the game. Macey Meeks hit a three pointer with less than 30 seconds to go in regulation tied the contest at 41-41. A 9-5 overtime by Moore County gave them the win.

“I think that was the biggest thing in regulation time was that we just missed way too many shots. We missed lay ups, two foot shots and you can’t win a game when you miss that many shots that close to the basket. A lot of them are rushing the shots. A lot are afraid they’re going to get the shot blocked. We practice it and practice it but we don’t have it in our mind is the biggest thing. There were some bright spots. We played them better than the first time we played them. We just had too many breakdowns here and there and not knowing what we needed when we needed it. That’s what hurt,” said Coach Julie Davis.

Mallory led the Lady Jackets with 13 points including a three. Macey Meeks followed with 10 with a three. Kristin Hill scored eight. MiKayla Williams tossed in seven with a three. Madison Burrows, Kelsey Arbuckle, Tori Sartain and Peyton Eads scored two each.

The Jacket men were in the thick of things for one quarter when they led 11-7. The visitors from Moore County posted a 23-8 second quarter and took control. They dominated the contested the rest of the way to take the win.

“We played a really a really good first quarter and a decent second quarter until late. I think it really hurt us with Trevor (Hampton) getting into foul trouble. He got three in the second and once he went out our offense started struggling really bad. They kind of pulled away late in the second and we had trouble ever closing that. I do know we were two of 14 from the line and we had 23 turnovers. I told them in the locker room that kills us. It doesn’t matter who you’re playing, you can’t go two of 14 from the line and have 23 turnovers and expect to win a basketball game,” said Coach Justin Bryant.

Tyler Rose led the Jackets with nine points all off three pointers. Trevor Hampton scored seven. Terrince Bramhall had five. Devan Hampton notched four. Dylan Mooney nailed a three. Tanner Smartt also scored three points. Boo Goins and Kasey Brown scored two points each and Kevin Stewart added one.
