Grundy fell by 15 on Saturday in the tournament to Sycamore out of Pleasant View, TN. After a 7-7 first quarter the Lady Jackets posted a 16-12 second quarter to take the lead at the half. Things fell apart in the third though as they allowed Sycamore a 22-8 quarter.
Kristin Hill led Grundy with 12 points. Macey Meeks scored eight. Kelsey Arbuckle had seven. Mallory Seals had seven with a three pointer. Mikayla Williams scored six. Peyton Eads had three and Julie Nance had two. Coach Julie Davis summed things up about all three games. “We just can’t seem to find what it takes to win. We are getting out played and out hustled each game. We have to start doing things right for four quarters if we want to be successful. Not having Madison (Burrows) playing with us is really hurting us. After Tuesday we will get her back and hopefully we can get things together and do better in district play,” said the coach.

Boys: Moore Co. 62 – Grundy 55

November 26 the Jackets traveled to Moore County and came up a little short. “We fell behind in the first quarter 23-8 but still managed to make it a good game. We played better offensively and Trevor (Hampton) really shot the ball well. We need to continue to improve on both ends of the floor,” said Coach Justin Bryant. Trevor Hampton led the Jackets with 24 points. Tanner Smartt followed with 14. Devan Hampton dropped in 11 and Terrince Bramhall scored nine.

Monterey 75 – Grundy 55

Grundy fell in their opening game of the Whitwell Thanksgiving tournament on November 27, to Monterey out of Putnam County. “Once again we played a really bad first quarter and fell behind early. In the third quarter we made a run and cut the lead to single digits which made me proud of the guys. They never quit and played hard the whole game,” said Coach Bryant. Trevor Hampton led the way again with 18 points. Boo Goins followed with 10. Tyler Rose tossed in eight. Devan Hampton had six. Kasey Brown scored five. Tanner Smartt and Terrince Bramhall scored four each.

Grundy 64 – Sale Creek 57

Friday the Jackets got their first win of the season in the Whitwell tournament downing Sale Creek. “It felt good to get a win. We played as a team and every person on the team contributed in some way. We played really good on the defensive end of the court and had several people shoot the ball good too,” said the coach. Trevor Hampton led once again with 15 this time. Kasey Brown followed with 13. Devan Hampton scored 11. Terrince Bramhall was in double digits with 10. Tyler Rose scored nine and Tanner Smartt added six.

CSAS 50 – Grundy 32

The Jackets couldn’t scratch out another win in their last game of the Whitwell tournament on Saturday. “This was a really good game. We played an excellent game defensively and made them play the style of basketball that we wanted. We couldn’t connect on our shots in the third and that hurt us. They were very quick and pressed the whole game and we handled it well. I feel like we are improving and I am proud of the way the team is playing right now,” complimented Bryant. Kasey Brown led Grundy with 11 points.  Trevor Hampton scored seven. Tyler Rose had six. Terrince Bramhall notched four. Devan Hampton and Boo Goins scored two each.
