Big 8 Round Up

Deadline for Big 8 results to be turned in to the Grundy County Herald is noon on Mondays. All names are spelled as turned in on the score sheets. If your school’s results are not listed it is because they have not turned in their results to the Herald. Scorekeepers please fill out all areas of the score sheet including quarter-by-quarter score and first and last names of players. Only results with full names of players from both teams and their scoring and stats will be published.

Any team needing Big 8 Report stat sheets used to turn in results can get them by emailing David Lowrie at dlowrie@blomand.net or by picking them up at the Grundy County Herald office.

Girls: Palmer 26 – SAS 19

The Lady Bulldogs notched another win besting the Lady Mountain Lions by seven. Tiffany Nolan led Palmer with 10 points. Sumer Payne followed with nine including a three. Gracie Scissom scored four. Olivia Payne had two and Ariel Caldwell scored one. Anna Post led SAS with nine points. Lucy Lancaster and Kate Butler scored four each. Tessa Shackleford added two.

Swiss 50 – Coalmont 14

The Lady Wildcats ran away with this one early over the Lady Rebels. Kristin Weaver led Swiss with 23 points including a three. Michelle McDaniel scored 10 with two threes. Sarah Johnson had four. Teah Bosio scored three and Megan Shrum had two. Destiny Sanders led Coalmont with 10 points. McKinley Thomas added four points.

Pelham 46 – Tracy 14

The Lady Tigers led throughout to take the win over the Lady Eagles. Lacy Nunley led Pelham with 20 points. Meleah Stevens followed with 12. Emily Parks tossed in eight. Trinity Walker, Katie Payne and Kearstin Brown scored two points each. Delaney Hughes and Morgan Meeks led Tracy with four points each. Rachel Shrum scored three. Kaitlin Bush had two and Latrice Anderson scored one.

Swiss 49 – North 16

The Lady Wildcats led 14-7 after one and rolled on to the win over the Lady Warriors. Kristin Weaver led Swiss with 23 points with a three. Megan Shrum followed with 12. Teah Bosio scored nine with a three. Sarah Johnson had five with a three. Taylor Meeks led North with six points with a three. Sarah Barrett and Krista Sweeton scored three each. Emma Seagroves and Erick Childers scored two each.

Coalmont 31 – Palmer 27

The Lady Rebels 27-18 at the end of three and had to hold off a Lady Bulldog comeback attempt to take the win. Destiny Sanders led Coalmont with 14 points. Bailey Sweeton followed with seven. Emily Rhea scored four. McKinley Thomas, Hanna Tate and Kaitlin Layne all had two each. Tiffany Nolan led Palmer with 13 points. Ariel Caldwell followed with eight. Olivia Payne scored four and Sidnee Scissom had two.

Swiss 57 – Palmer 22

The Lady Wildcats were just too much for the Lady Bulldogs Monday night in Palmer. Teah Bosio led Swiss with 23 including four three pointers. Kristin Weaver scored 15 with one three. Megan Shrum tossed in 11. Ashley Smith scored five. Caitlyn Crabtree had two and Sarah Johnson scored one. Tiffany Nolan led Palmer with 13 including a three. Gracie Scissom scored four. Olivia Payne scored three and Ariel Caldwell had two.

Boys: Palmer 39 – SAS 28

The Bulldogs had a 35-16 lead going into the fourth quarter and played a lot of subs the rest of the way in the win over the Mountain Lions. Trey Hampton led Palmer with 26 points. Jacob Peoples followed with six points. Alec Turner, Lukas Borne and Dean Nunley scored two points each. Ryan Travis had one point. Ryan Toomey led SAS with 12 points. Robert Graham had six. John Grammer, Aubrey Blade, Dustin Stemsby, Joseph McDonough and Aiden Smith scored two points each.

Swiss 48 – Coalmont 32

The Rebels led 14-10 after one but the Wildcats won all three of the final quarters to take the win. Kollyn Cooper led three Swiss players in double digits with 15 points including a three. Josh Wingo followed with 14. Josh Nance had 13. Ethan Nunley added four and Nathan Coffelt had two. Noah Bean topped Coalmont with 15 points with a three. Cullen Anderson scored six with a three. Jaron Meeks and Cole Layne scored four each. Steven Yates added a three pointer.

Swiss 37 – North 12

The Wildcats used a 7-0 second quarter to pull away from the Warriors after holding an 8-5 first quarter lead. Kollyn Cooper scored 12 with a three to lead Swiss. Ethan Nunley followed with 10 with a three. Josh Wingo scored six. Nathan Coffelt had five with a three. Josh Nance tossed in four. Thomas Roberts led North with six points. Tyler Patrick, Casen King and Nathanael Myers scored two each.

Coalmont 64 – Palmer 50

The Rebels trailed 14-9 after one but turned things their way with a 27-16 second quarter and went on to win over the Bulldogs. Noah Bean led Coalmont with 35 points Steven Yates followed with 11. Jaron Meeks scored seven. Logan Crisp had five. Brandon Lee Bennett tossed in four. Cole Layne had two. Jacob Peoples led Palmer with 22 points including two threes. J.P. Sanders had eight with two threes. Lukas Borne and Griffyn Rogers scored six each with Rogers hitting a three. Alec Turner scored four. Dean Nunley and Gunner Trussell had two each.

Palmer 49 – Swiss 36

This one was tight most of the way but the Bulldogs pulled away from the Wildcats in the final quarter to take the win. Trey Hampton led Palmer with 35 points including a three. Gunner Trussell scored nine. Jacob Peoples added five. Ethan Nunley led Swiss with 15 including four three pointers. Kollyn Cooper had 11 with a three. Josh Wingo had six. Nathan Coffelt and Josh Nance scored two each.
