GCHS awarded grant

Grundy County High School was awarded $7,500 through a competitive grant process from the Appalachian Regional Commission’s Tennessee Appalachian Center for Higher Education program at SouthEast Educational, Inc. (TnACHE-SEED) located in Knoxville, TN. The funds will be used to implement the high school’s college access program called “Sowing the Seed.” The purpose of the funding is to implement programs and curriculum components to increase the postsecondary education enrollment of students at Grundy County High School.  Grant activities include site visits to introduce students, teachers, and community members to 2 and 4-year colleges and universities, Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology and other certificate programs; job awareness and career exploration activities to discover the levels of education needed for desired careers and expected salaries normally associated with the careers; and opportunities for students and parents to learn about the processes for applying for postsecondary education opportunities and accessing financial aid.
