MCNABB, OMA, L., 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home. She was a member of the Tracy City First United Methodist Church and was a cook at Palmer Elementary School for many years and lived in Palmer most of her life. She was born in Coalmont, Tennessee, July 23, 1917 to Jessie Will and Nancy D. Nunley James who preceded her in death along with her husband, Marion “Soap” McNabb; daughter, Rebecca Gibbs; sisters, Oda Roberts, Minnie Sanders and Beatrice Nunley; brothers, Albert, Emmit, Laden and Marvin D. James. She is survived by her daughters, Marion (Bobby) Guyear, Monteagle and Marie Savage, Gruetli-Laager; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday, October 26 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Danny Coffelt officiating. Burial was in Palmer Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, TN.
MELTON, DAVE, age 68, of the Clouse Hill community near Tracy City, TN, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 in Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester, TN. He was the owner and operator of Melton’s Lumber Company for over 46 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.D. Melton and Jessie Pauline Parson Melton. He was a member of Tracy City First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Margie Sue Rankin Melton; children, Matthew (Roxanne) Melton, Tracy City; Joshua (Julie) Melton, Winchester; Toni Kay Melton, Christiana, TN; and Vanessa Melton, Tracy City; brothers, Tom (Janie) Melton, Henry (Karen) Melton, Bill Melton and Wayne Melton, all of Tracy City; sister, Virginia (Ronald) Hughes, Lookout Valley; 4 grandchildren, Kennedy Melton, Chandler Melton, Coleman Melton, and Chaz Melton; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dave Melton was held Wednesday, October 30 in the funeral home chapel with Minister Ben Curtis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association. GALUS, STEWART, ANTON, 62, died Sunday October 27, 2013. He was retired from the US Air Force after 22 years service and Big Creek Utility District in Coalmont. He was a member of the Altamont Church of Christ and longtime leader in AA. He enjoyed photography, fishing and bowling. He served at treasurer for the Treasure of Truth Worldwide Broadcast. He was born in Boise, Idaho on July 24, 1951 to Anton Adam and Nadine Brookshire Galus who preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons, Matthew K. (Virginia) Galus of Federalsburg, Maryland and Quintin Marc (Wendy) Galus of Misawa Air base, Japan; grandchildren, Carmen, Brodie, David, Megan and Logan Galus; brothers, Arthur J. Galus, Boise, Idaho and Gordon S. Galus, Cambridge, Idaho. Graveside funeral services will be noon Thursday, October 31 at the Altamont Cemetery with Ministers Joe Gray and Ray Winton officiating with Full Military Honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
