Soddy Daisy Standout Has Grundy Roots
Hunter Maynor is a junior at Soddy Daisy High School and is the school’s starting quarterback this season. In his first start for the Trojans, he threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns, leading the way for a 25-7 win over rival Hixson. Hunter not only excels in football but is the starting pitcher for the high school baseball team and earned a state championship wrestling ring his freshman year at Soddy Daisy. Hunter is the son of former Grundy County resident Mandy Nunley Maynor and Chris Maynor of Soddy Daisy and is the grandson of Danny and Naomi Nunley, formerly of Coalmont, now of Hixson, TN, and Bill and Donna Maynor of Soddy Daisy. His great grandparents are James and Frances Nunley of Coalmont and Leander and Hazel Layne of Gruetli-Laager. Hunter has a younger brother, Hayden, and both boys have played football and baseball since they were three years old and started wrestling at the age of four. “If my boys aren’t on a football or baseball field, wrestling mat or basketball court, then they’re hunting and fishing,” said proud mom Mandy.
