Monteagle Rotary Distributes Dictionaries
On September 3, the Monteagle/Sewanee Rotary Club distributed free dictionaries to the students in the third grade class at Monteagle Elementary School. This is an annual project that reflects the Rotary’s focus on “strengthening literacy and education in the area.” While one can find dictionaries on the web, not every student has ready access to computers. Even with web access, Rotary hopes that having a dictionary in hand allows students to have this important resource available to them at all times as they engage in more challenging reading and writing activities. Rotarian Greg Maloof spearheaded this year’s project with Bill Davis, Dan Hatfield, Bill Longwell, and Chip Manning assisting.
