On August 20, Sewanee Elementary School hosted a Ribbon Cutting as their way of saying “Thank You” to Franklin County for supporting their renovation project. The school received many upgrades from a desperately needed new roof to thermo-pane windows. Built in 1924, the school should now last at least another 89 years! Assisted by the Chamber of Commerce, many community dignitaries were on hand. Pictured with the students of Sewanee Elementary is Jan Tavlin, Executive Director Judy Taylor, Christopher McDonough, Kevin Caroland, Cleijo Walker, Principal Mike Maxon, Director of Schools Rebecca Sharber, Franklin County Mayor Richard Stewart, Christine Hopkins, Bonnie McCardell, County Commissioner Sherwood Ebey joined with PTO officers Don Rung, Robert Black, Heather Eslick, Rebecca Habbick and a multitude of parents and educators.
