She was of the Baptist faith and was born in Palmer, Tennessee on March 4, 1926 to Samuel Tate and Carrie Mae Stewart Tate who preceded her in death along with her sons, Paul Edward, Lannie and Jimmy Cox; granddaughters, Laura Ann Murdock and Meredith Cox; sisters, Ethel, Myrtle and Mary Katherine; brothers, Paul, Horace, Haskel, Herbert, Homer and Harley Tate. She is survived by her son, Jeff Cox; foster son, Michael Newman; grandchildren, Wayne Cox, Samantha Cates, Karen Grayson, Lisa Keener, Bridget Coppinger and Brittany Cox; daughters-in-law, Hope and Mae; 7 great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services were held Thursday, August 22 at the Palmer Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, TN.
SAYNES, IRENE, age 94, of Tracy City, TN, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013. She was a daughter of the late Barney and Lilly Pearl Orange Johnson and was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Saynes; son, Roger Hayden Smith, Jr.; brother, Freddie Johnson; sister, Eula Partin. Survivors include a brother, Franklin Johnson of Tracy City; sisters, Marie Geary and Dawn Brothers, both of Tracy City, Bonnie Andelson of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her husband, Clark Nunley; daughters, Cheryl Ann Lauppe, Salina, Kansas, Tammy Sullivan, Washington; sons, Tim (Donna) Alger, Fort Knox, Kentucky and Brandon Nunley, Altamont; sister, Penny Duncan, Dodge City, Kansas; brothers, Terry Max (Sherry), Tulsa, Oklahoma; Bart and Lyle Duncan, Wichita, Kansas, Denny (Heleen) Duncan, Maxville, Kansas, John (Leila) and Steve Duncan, Dodge City, Kansas; several loving grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was born on December 24, 1932 in Adams, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Audie Lee and Lela McNeil Brooksher and was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Boyer; great grandson, Emmett Walker; brother, Richard Brooksher; sister, Nancy Woody. Survivors include her children, Charles (Kathy) Boyer, Dunlap, TN; Linda (Charles) Smith, Manchester; Sue Boyer, Brentwood; grandchildren, Amy Walker, Charlotte, NC; Amanda Norton, Dunlap; Charles Overton Boyer, Pikeville; great grandchildren, Connor Norton, Alyvia Boyer and Owen Boyer; sisters, Elizabeth Sanders, Mary Alice Callis, Carlene Conquest, and Betty Clinton; sisters-in-law, Dot Biggers, Nita Morgan and Shirley Armstrong; numerous nieces and nephews; and her church family at Monteagle First Baptist Church where she was a longtime member.
