The rain continues to fall here at the dam in Coalmont and our June recording was 7.2 inches. The big rain event of the month was on June 17-18 with a total of 2.77 inches. For the first six months of 2013 we have had 43.35 inches of rain.
The high temperature of the month was 87 degrees on June 12 and the low was a chilly 50 degrees on June 3. Father’s Day on June 16 had a high of 82, low of 65, with 0.65 inches of rain.
From “rainy Palmer” Town Historian David Patton reports 9.2 inches of rain. “We had a nice Father’s Day with just a shower before dark. It can get cool at any time on the mountain and when Mr. Raymond Hargis was Principal (1955-1958) at Palmer Elementary. He says that one of those years on June 6, he went to a meeting in Nashville with Tom Moore and had to turn the car heat on.
