BRANNAN, JOHNSIE, KATHERINE, age 80, of Monteagle, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Monteagle. She loved the Lord, her family, and gardening. She also enjoyed attending the morning prayer group at First Baptist Church of Monteagle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Johnny C. Brannan, her parents Charles Bell Myers, and Mary Elizabeth Myers, and a brother Charles Edward Myers. Survivors left to cherish her memory include her children Joy Hawkins of Cleveland, TN; Mike (Cindy) Brannan of Monteagle, TN; and Robbie (Lisa) Brannan of Estill Springs, TN; brother, Billy Wayne (Shelia) Myers; sister-in-law, Mae Wanda Myers; grandchildren, Shane and Brad Cannon, Christy Bussard, David, Charlie, Mitchell, and Amber Jane Brannan. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 20 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Dr. Daryll Smiley officiating. Burial was in Monteagle Cemetery. KING, PERCY, GLENN, age 88, of Monteagle, TN, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 in Erlanger Medical Center. He was a native of Stone Mountain, Georgia, a son of the late Charles A. King and Mary Myrtle Huie King. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech, a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran where he served as a radio operator on B 29’s in the 20th Air Force on Siapan. He was an electrical engineer and retired from A.E.D.C. He devoted many years to serving the Republican Party and as Grundy County Election Chairman. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in September 2012. Survivors include his daughters, Kim King Stout and her husband, Allen of Franklin, TN and Glenda King Beals and her husband, Charles of Mt. Juliet; two grandchildren, Glenn Stout and Lillian Stout; a great grandson, Pierce Stout. A memorial service to celebrate Glenn’s life was held Friday, June 28 in the chapel of Cumberland Funeral Home with Bishop William Millsaps officiating. Interment of ashes was Monday, July 1 in the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville. Memorials may be made to Christ Church Monteagle. FULTS, JOE, MONROE, “GO,” 68, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at his home. He was born in Palmer, Tennessee on May 26, 1945 to Ether and Martha King Fults who preceded him in death along with his sister, Brenda Fults; brothers, Wilburn, Ernest and Larry Fults. He is survived by his companion, Linda Taylor; son, Brian Keith Fults; daughter, Susie Fults; sisters, Janie Fults and Irene McKinney; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. SMITH, DR. CHARLES, D., 88, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away at his home Wednesday June 26, 2013. He was born in Altamont, Tennessee and was a World War II veteran of the United States Marine Corps being at the battle of Iwo Jima. He was an OBGYN at the Women’s Clinic in Murfreesboro in partners with Dr. Bud Young before his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Minnie Fults Smith along with his sisters, Flora Mae Smith and Lila Sweeton; brothers, Ernest and Walter Sweeton, Clyde, Vernie, Kelvin, Warren and Tommy Smith; his companion, Sue Britnell; close friends, Sam and Jo Hughes, Evans and Alice Maples; 11 nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 29 in the Layne Funeral Home chapel in Altamont, TN. SEAGROVES, JOSHUA, DEE, age 30, of Coalmont, Tennessee, passed away Friday, June 28, 2013, in Erlanger Medical Center from injuries received in an ATV accident. He was a graduate of Grundy County High School and worked in the timber business. He loved the outdoors and had a warm personality that would bring a smile to your face when talking with him. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur “Yogi” Seagroves; brother, Rocky Neal Seagroves; grandmothers, Edna Seagroves and Ann Campbell. Survivors include his mother, Lila Seagroves; sister, Carla Tate; sister-in-law, Nina Seagroves; aunt, Digger Seagroves; nephew, Cole Seagroves; nieces, Abi Seagroves and Hanna Tate. CALDWELL, HERBERT, E., 83, of the Cumberland Heights Community in Coalmont, and Palmer native, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, June 27, 2013. Herbie was a coalminer and retired from Atlas Chemical in Chattanooga. He began playing baseball at the age of 15 and was the pitcher for the Palmer men’s team being an avid baseball fan, hunter and fisherman his whole life. He was a US Army veteran and a Christian attending the Laager Independent Methodist Church. He was born in Flat Branch to Calvin B. and Ida Mae Nunley Caldwell who preceded him in death along with his son, Jeffery Dennis Caldwell; sisters, Beatrice Pickett, Laura Ruehling and Edna Taylor; brothers, Chester, Roy, Robert “Poss” and Howard Caldwell. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Bonnie Cook Caldwell; daughters, Cynthia (Johnny) Green and Patty (Ricky) Brown; sister, Hazel Stotts; grandchildren, John (Misty) Green, Traci (Ronald) Dickerson, Dennis and Terry (Nichelle) Caldwell, Tyler and Dylan Brown; great grandchildren, Nick Green, McKenzie and Kameryn Dickerson, Summer, Jeff and Jeremiah Caldwell; a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Eston Brown Sr. and Anna Bell Savage Brown along with his sister, Martha Ellen Brown. He was of the Baptist Faith and a retired nurseryman.
