HALL, LUCILLE, KILGORE, age 89, of Chattanooga, TN., and a former resident of Tracy City, passed away Monday, June 4, 2013 at Standifer Place. She was a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Ray Hall. Survivors include her children, Ray Hall, Lee (Jim) Reece, both of Chattanooga; Bob (Kristin) Hall, Orlando, FL; brother, Winfred Kilgore, Chattanooga; sisters, Geneva Brookman, Tracy City and Nellie Tabor, Chesterland, Ohio; 2 grandchildren, Brendan and Austin; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 8 in the funeral home chapel with Minister Barry Nolan officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Hospice of Chattanooga. BURNETT, L. H., age 94, of Pelham, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN. Mr. Burnett spent his life serving. First and foremost he was committed to serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Next came his family. He was married to Gladys Crabtree for 68 years. They raised three sons and served as roll models to all young citizens in Grundy County. L.H. served his country in WWII as a member of the Army Air Corps. He served in numerous civic organizations and was chairman of the Grundy County School Board. He was also chairman of the Grundy County Commission. Next to the service to his Lord and Savior and Family, L.H. was most proud of his service to the Grundy County Soil Conservation. He served this organization for more than 50 years and was the chairman of the organization until his death. It was through this organization that L.H. became involved in reclaiming the land left scarred by strip mining. L.H. led an effort that succeeded in requiring that land be reclaimed not only in Grundy County but also all of Tennessee and other states where strip mining had occurred. This effort required his testimony before both the United States senate and House of Representatives. His life of service as a rural letter carrier, farmer, father, civic leader and Christian should serve as a model for all generations. Mr. Burnett was born to the Late John, and Mary Jane Burnett March 13, 1919 in Pelham, TN. He was a member of Decherd First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by his loving wife Mrs. Gladys Burnett; two sisters Madelene Hamby and Lenora Payne; two brothers Jim Burnett and Wilson Burnett. Survivors include his sons and their wives, Edwin (Carol) Burnett of Murfreesboro, TN, Byron (Deborah) Burnett of Manchester, TN and Carlton (Angie) Burnett of Pelham, TN; three grandchildren Mandy, Nathan, and Michael; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral Services were held Friday, June 7, in the chapel of Cumberland Funeral Home with Minister Bob Vickers and Reverend Riley Anderson officiating. Burial was in Warren Cemetery in Pelham, Tennessee with full military honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Veterans Honor Guard. HAWKINS, DEBORAH, INEZ, 51, of McMinnville, TN, passed away June 6, 2013 at River Park Hospital. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jeffery David Hobbs. She was a homemaker and aided her pastor husband for 20 years at Antioch Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 31 years Ricky Hawkins; daughter, Jessica Nicole Hawkins; son, Ethan Garrick Hawkins, all of Tarlton Valley, TN; parents Carl David and Catherine Pease Hobbs of McMinnville, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Shelia and Steve Johnson of McMinnville, TN; a host of loving nieces and nephews including Emilya Hobbs and Eden Grissom. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 9 at High Funeral Home Chapel in McMinnville, TN with Bro. William Wanamaker and Bro. Mike Rigsby officiating. Burial was in King Cemetery in Grundy County, TN. Arrangements were made by High Funeral Home, McMinnville, TN.
