NUNLEY, SHIRLEY, SHORT, age 73, of Monteagle, TN, departed this life on Friday, March 8, 2013 at The Bridge at Monteagle following an extended illness. She was a homemaker before becoming a resident at The Bridge for approximately the past twenty years. Before becoming disabled she was a homemaker, loved working in her garden and being outside and when she was younger, she loved to dance. She was a loving and caring mother, sister and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jo (Dennis) Turner of Gruetli-Laager; son, Andy Nunley of Tracy City; sisters, Martina (Joe) Sheridan of Sewanee and Sue Shetters of Sherwood; brother, Kenneth (Joy) Short of Cowan; grandchildren, Andrea, Alicia, Joseph Turner and Whitney Nunley and four great grandchildren. Services were held Monday, March 11 at the Church with Bro. Franklin Hill officiating. Interment was in Coalmont Cemetery. SMITH, MILDRED, ANN, age 78, of Tracy City, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2012 at Emerald Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee, TN. She is preceded in death by her late husband George Alex Smith and ex-husband Charles D. Knott; brothers, Vernon, Raymond, and Jerry Gass. Survivors include her daughters, Wanda (Lawrence) Cheston, Sewanee, TN; Debra (Don) Williams, McMinnville, TN; grandchildren, Wendy (Steve) Fugate, Kalona, Iowa; Lindsay Roberts, Sewanee, TN; Hillary Cheston, Sewanee, TN; Jason Worley, Tracy City, TN; sister, Polly Carpenter, Sewanee, TN; nephew, Tim Carpenter. ANDERSON, PAMELA, ROSE, age 53, of Tracy City, Tennessee, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at Erlanger Medical Center from injuries received in a truck wreck. She was a daughter of the late James Buford Meeks and Edna Roberts Meeks and was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Anderson; daughter, Sandy Rose Anderson; sister, Rita Lynn Meeks; brother, James Wayne Meeks. Survivors include her daughter, Katie Anderson, Dyersburg, TN; sons, Raymond Anderson and Ricky Anderson, both of Tracy City; brothers, Danny Ray Meeks, Nashville; Billy Merle Meeks, Pikeville; and Donald Meeks of Tracy City; sisters, Edwene (David) Johnson and Beverly (Larry) Campbell, both of Tracy City; 3 grandchildren, Chad Allen (Willie) Fultz, Cayden Franklin and Owyn Anderson; special friend, Lisa Hill; several nieces and nephews. WALLACE, MARK, DAVID, age 55, of Tracy City, Tennessee, passed away February 28, 2013 in Harton Regional Hospital in Tullahoma. He was born in Flint, Michigan on April 20, 1958 and was a songwriter, carpenter, Mr. Mom and beloved friend. Survivors include his wife, Christina Ulibarri; step- daughter, Tyanna Klekotta and many dear friends who knew and loved him. CHURCH, SYDNEY, “SYD,” age 80, of Monteagle, Tennessee passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. She was a member of Tracy City First United Methodist Church and a member of the choir. Syd was musically talented and blessed with a beautiful voice and she passed her musical talents on to her daughters, Cindy and Pam. Over the years she enjoyed playing golf, attending and watching on TV softball, baseball, football, and golf. She also operated a sports apparel manufacturing business for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kenneth “Buck” Church and she is survived by her daughters, Cindy Church, Manchester, TN and Pam Church, Tracy City, TN; seven sisters and one brother; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great–great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 19 at Tracy City First United Methodist Church with Minister Danny Coffelt officiating and eulogy by Danny Cooper, a beloved family friend. Burial was in Plainview Memorial Cemetery Tracy City, TN. Pallbearers were Glen Ernie Church, Zach Guyear, Zeke Guyear, Zeph Guyear, Chase Johnson, and Steven Roberts. Honorary pallbearers were Ernie Church, Craig Lawson, Billy Moon, Ricky Seals, Tim Seals, and Cody Seals. LAYNE, LEONARD, of Palmer, TN, 80, passed away at his home Monday, March 18, 2013. He was a member of Wesley Chapel Holiness Church, a coal miner and welder. He was born in Palmer, Tennessee on December 19, 1932 to Frank and Edith Morton Layne who preceded him in death along with his granddaughter, Millie Mae Layne; brothers, Eckerd, Coleman and William Layne; sisters, Pearl King, Gladys Nolan, Nora Dyer and Flora Partin. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Troas Knowlan Layne; daughter, Wanda (Lee) Meeks; sons, Delbert (Millie), Tony (Mary), Doyle (Kellie) and Russell (Becky) Layne; sister, Edna (John) Frye; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21 in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Roger Boyd and Bro. Billy Bice officiating with burial to follow in the Palmer Cemetery.
