SMITH, DOROTHY, age 83, of Coalmont, Tennessee, passed away at her home Tuesday, February 26, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Myers and Fannie Nunley Myers; great grandson, Taylor Sinks; five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her husband, James O. Smith; daughter, Kathy and her husband, Mike Shrum of Nashville; son, Anthony and his wife, Jocelyn Smith of Winchester; grandchildren, Chris Smith, Cody Smith, Lorie Sinks and Travis Shrum; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in the funeral home chapel, Thursday, February 28 with Reverend Roger Hobbs officiating. Burial was in Coalmont Cemetery. WALKER, ELIZABETH, C., “BETTY,” 99, died at home on Sunday, March 3, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born July 2, 1913 in New Bedford, MA to the late Harry C. and Hope E. Lawton. She attended Wellesley College for a year and then taught at Walnut Hill, a private boarding school in Natick, MA. She and her first husband, Paul Ripley, were involved in several businesses, one being an electrical business that, unknown to them, was making parts for the Manhattan Project. Paul died at the young age of forty-two when her two daughters were five and seven. She then married Richard V. Walker and they raised the three girls during his 22-year Air Force career and later at IBM for 17 years.  She led a full life and was active until a few weeks before her death. If she were awake, she stayed busy knitting baby hats and making origami albums for the NICU at Huntsville Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, H. Cranston Lawton of Topsham, ME and husbands, Richard V. Walker and Paul K. Ripley. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Gail and Rick Wall of Huntsville, Al; Hope and John Baggenstoss of Monteagle, TN; and Linda and Rodger Weinstein of Rochester, NY; six grandchildren, Michael Wall of Golden, CO; John Wall of Huntsville, AL; Adam Weinstein of Martha’s Vineyard, MA; Richard Baggenstoss of Decatur, GA; Jennifer Boyd of Selma, AL; and Jim Weinstein of Rochester, NY; and seven great-grandchildren, Kayla and Jessica Boyd of Selma, AL; Jack and William Baggenstoss of Decatur, GA; Maren and Juniper Wall of Golden, CO; and Althea Wall of Huntsville, AL. There will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Walker to the NICU at Huntsville Hospital-Huntsville Hospital Women and Children, c/o Lynn Lee, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 101 Sivley Road, Huntsville, AL  35801.  Arrangements were made by Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, Winchester, TN.

PICKETT, JAMES, LLOYD, SR., 69, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 in an Ashland City, Tennessee hospital. He was a US Navy veteran and was born in Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee on December 13, 1943 to John Bert Pickett and Jeanetta E. Ward Pickett Couch who preceded him in death along with his sons, Samuel, Billy and James Pickett, Jr.  He is survived by his wife, Debra Allen Pickett; daughters, Melissa (Tony) Gilliam, Wendy (Jack Watts) Woodside and Christina (Bryan) West; son, James (Shannon) Sanders; sister, Cathy Haley; brother, John Pickett; 10 grandchildren, Robin, Dustin, Jamie, Keisha, Misty, Eric, Austin, Andrew, Gabriel and Joshua; 5 great grandchildren, Isaiah, Karma, Bradley, Dominic and Alexander. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 3 at the Bethel Freewell Baptist Church in Ashland City, TN with Pastor Barry Raper officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery. MYERS, LETTIE, LUCILLE, age 92, of Coalmont, TN, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at her home. She was a daughter of the late Johnny Fults and Jennie Argo Fults and was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Myers. She is survived by a daughter, Janice King, Coalmont; grandson, Randy (Angie) King, Coalmont; 2 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday, March 4 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Tony King officiating. Burial was in Bonny Oaks Cemetery. CAMPBELL, EDNA, CHRISTINE, BURNETT, age 78, of Coalmont, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 in St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was a daughter of the late Elijah Burnett and Mary Shrum Burnett and was preceded in death by her husband, Webb Campbell; son, Terry Webster Campbell; brother, Bobby Burnett; sisters, Etta Mae, Jewell and Clara. She attended Sweeton Hill Congregational Methodist Church. She is survived by her children, Forrest Monwell (Annie) Campbell, Rowdy Campbell, Danielle (Robin) Bedwell, all of Coalmont; sister, Nell Rose Gibbs, Tracy City; grandchildren, Tara and Terry; great grandchildren, Austin David and Tyler Blake Jackson; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 6 at Sweeton Hill Congregational Methodist Church with Reverend John Potts, Reverend Larry Campbell, and Reverend Gene Richard officiating.
