TATE, HARLEY, CLEVELAND, “H.C.,” died Tuesday, February 5, 2013. He was a US Navy Veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was born in Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee on August 8, 1932 to Harley and Bessie Bradey Tate who preceded him in death along with his sister, Laverne Ables. He is survived by his wife, Joan Fletcher Licht Tate; sons, Gary, Grant, Gerald, Joey and Glen Tate; daughters, Felisha (Kapen) Totherow and Lisa Rector; sister, Dola Scissom; grandchildren, Destiney, Gavin, Bailey, Kylie, Alexa, Chasmine, Sierra, Anthony, Jeremy, Mary, Grant and Michael; 2 great grandchildren; loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday, February 8 in the funeral home chapel with Minister Clayton Jones officiating. MYERS, THOMAS, LAWSON, 80, of Beersheba springs, TN, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013. He was a graduate of Grundy County High School and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Etheleen Myers; stepson, Mike Myers. Survivors include his son, Gene (Jackie) Myers of Ooltewah; stepson, Tommy Mers of East Ridge; grandchildren, Jessica, Gene, Jr. and Jordan Myers. A memorial service was held on Friday, February 8 at St. John United Methodist Church in Chattanooga. Mr. Myers donated his body to the University of Tennessee Anthropological Center. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, a member of the Barkers Cove Community Church, the Carpenters Union local 74 in Hixson and retired from TVA. He was born in Palmer on September 29, 1925 to Jim and Dora Kilgore O’Neal who preceded him in death along with his sister, Viola Lockhart Stampli; brothers, Perry, Martin and Kelso O’Neal; great grandson, Christopher Hargis. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Billie Anderson O’Neal; daughters, Weedy (Larry) Birdwell, Carol (Waymon) Roberts and Joan (Dwight) Hargis; grandchildren, Jay (Rhonda) and Eric (Felicia) Birdwell, Robbie Roberts, April (Rodney) Boyd, Sandra (Charlie) Anderson and Craig Hargis; great grandchildren, Justin, Drew, Talya and Jayce Birdwell, Taylor, Morgan and Laura Thomas, Devin Morrison; a host of loving nieces and nephews. He was a retired businessman, government employee, truck driver and farmer, a Vietnam veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a member of the New Life Ministry Church in Altamont. He was born in Cruso, North Carolina on March 30, 1945 to Zach and Ruby Rickman Hooper who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Merle and Homer Hooper; sisters, Betty Creasman, Thelma Thomas and Carolyn Horstman. He is survived by his wife, Zelda Deitz Hooper; daughters, Angie (Chris) Oaks and Cindy (Tommy) Golden; grandchildren, Chelsea, Erica, Cheyenne and Camden; brother, Sammy (Janice) Hooper; loving nieces and nephews. SIMON, JUNE, MARIE, age 76, of Monteagle, Tennessee passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Tracy City, a daughter of the late Charlie Peter Sitz and Viola Isabell Perry Sitz. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Simon; brothers, Charles “Bud” Sitz and Perry “Cotton” Sitz; sisters, Juanita Bracken, Evelyn Townsend, Barbara Ann Meeks, Francis Tate and Dorothy Wiggins. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #266 at Tracy City and attended Myers Hill Church. She worked as a bookkeeper for Myers Office for many years before her retirement.
