After serving local Grundy County residents by volunteering and managing the Grundy County Food Bank for over eight years, Glenn and Carol Vanden Bosch have stepped down from the position.

On December 27, the Dutch Maid Bakery held a lovely luncheon for all the Grundy County Food Bank volunteers, and owner Cindy Day expressed her appreciation for the services of the food bank as it had helped her and her family in the past.

Vanden Bosch introduced Sandy Spies as the new Grundy County Food Bank Director.  Spies praised the Vanden Bosch team for taking the organization from a very small food pantry to one that now serves over 240 families each and every month.

“They have led through a time of significant growth and change and we are profoundly grateful for their leadership and dedication to feeding Grundy’s hungry,” said Spies. “I am excited to fill the position of director because it is important that we continue the mission of the Food Bank.”

Spies also announced that Lucy Campbell has agreed act as volunteer coordinator, as volunteers are a vital part of making the operation successful. Food boxes are prepared every third Tuesday of the month and distributed every fourth Tuesday of the month from 8:30 to 11:00.  An important volunteer meeting will be held on those days.
