The Swiss Lady Wildcats and the Tracy City Eagles won the annual Jingle Bell Classic hosted by the Grundy County baseball team. The annual tourney is a large fundraiser for the Yellow Jackets each year. Named to the All-Tournament girls’ team were: Katlin Anderson and Emilee Meeks of Palmer, Autum Spencer and Hope Archbold from North, Shayla Bennett and Hanna Phillips of Monteagle, Teah Bosio, Makayla Misiolek, Kristen Weaver and Taylen Scissom of Swiss. Named to the All-Tournament boys’ team were: James McDaniel of North, Kollyn Cooper and Coy Gibbs of Swiss, Hogan Holland and Blane Harris of Monteagle, Noah Callahan and Trey Hampton of Palmer, Draven Tate, Boo Goins and Dakota Schild of Tracy City. Note: Results from all the games of the tourney were not turned in to the Herald. Games below are what were submitted.
Girls: Monteagle 40 – Pelham 16
The Lady Hornets knocked downed the Lady Tigers to advance in the tourney. Hannah Phillips led Monteagle with 14 points. Kaila Elsea followed with 11. Shayla Bennett scored five. Kara Meeks, Michelle Smith, Jessica Green, Keely Reese and Caitlin Ladd scored two points each. Haley Northcutt led Pelham with nine points. Brooklyn Morris scored three. Lacey Nunley and Karissa Northcutt had two each.
Swiss 38 – North 16
The Lady Wildcats rolled to a big win over the Lady Warriors. Teah Bosio led Swiss with 18 points including two threes. Kristin Weaver scored eight. Makayla Misiolek scored six. Taylen Scissom hit a three pointer. Rachael Hutson scored one. Autum Spencer led North with 10 points. Hope Archbold and Chelsea King scored two points each. Erica Carrick and Brenti Myers had one point each.
Monteagle 51 – Palmer 33
The Lady Hornets used a 29-15 second half to advance to the finals with a win over the Lady Bulldogs. Hannah Phillips led Monteagle with 22 points. Kaila Elsea scored 11. Shayla Bennett had eight. Michelle Smith tossed in six. Kara Meeks and Jessica Green scored two each. Emilee Meeks led the way for Palmer with 10 points. Kaitlin Anderson scored six. Desiray Layne and Alaura Green had five each. Chloe Scissom scored four. Tiffany Nolan added three.
Consolation: North 39 – Palmer 34
The Lady Warriors trailed the Lady Bulldogs 9-6 after one quarter but they won each of the final three quarters to take third place in the tourney. Autum Spencer led North with 16 points. Hope Archbold followed with 10. Erika Carrick scored seven. Christa Sweeton tossed in four and Brenti Myers scored two. Emilee Meeks topped Palmer with 13 points. Kaitlin Anderson followed with nine. Desiray Layne notched six. Tiffany Nolan had five. Chloe Scissom added one.
Championship: Swiss 47 – Monteagle 31
The Lady Wildcats opened with a 15-3 first quarter over the Lady Hornets and never trailed on the way to the title. Kristin Weaver led Swiss with 17 points including a three. Teah Bosio followed with 16. Makayla Misiolek scored nine. Taylen Scissom added five with a three. Kaila Elsea led the way for Monteagle with 10 points. Hannah Phillips scored eight. Michelle Smith scored six. Shayla Bennett tossed in five. Caitlyn Ladd had two.
Boys: Swiss 44 – North 43
The Wildcats came from behind with a 19-11 fourth quarter to defeat the Warriors. Kollyn Cooper and Ethan Nunley led Swiss with 15 points each with Cooper nailing four threes and Nunley hitting three. Coy Gibbs scored 10. Robert Layne and Josh Nance scored two each. James McDaniel led North with 14 points. Matt Burrows and Ben Franklin scored 12 each. Michael Posey added five points.
Palmer 55 – Monteagle 35
The Bulldogs moved on to the finals with this big win over the Hornets. Trey Hampton led Palmer with 21 points. Noah Callahan scored 11. Tanner Sanders and Hunter Layne had seven each with Sanders hitting a three. Trent Hampton scored six with a three. Jacob Peoples added three points. Blane Harris led Monteagle with 11 points. Hogan Holland scored 10. Corbin Lusk had six. Hunter Ladd tossed in three. Colby Melton and Keagan Winton scored two each. Kaleb Meeks added one.
Tracy 45 – Swiss 31
The Eagles advanced to the finals downing the Wildcats. Boo Goins led Tracy City with 22 points including a three. Draven Tate scored 14. Johnnie Atkins added five and Dakota Schild added four. Coy Gibbs led the Wildcats with 12. Josh Nance scored nine. Kollyn Cooper had five with a three. Ethan Nunley hit a three. Robert Layne scored two.
Consolation: Monteagle 50 – Swiss 40
The Wildcats led 7-6 after one but the Hornets posted a 9-7 second quarter and went on to take third place. Hogan Holland led Monteagle with 19 points. Blane Harris scored 13. Colby Melton notched 10. Kaleb Meeks scored four. Corbin Lusk and Hunter Ladd scored two each. Kollyn Cooper led Swiss with 13 including two three pointers. Coy Gibbs scored 12. Robert Layne had eight with two threes. Ethan Nunley scored five with a three. Josh Nance added two points.

The Bulldogs opened with a 10-5 first quarter over the Eagles and held the lead for the next two quarters. Tracy posted an 18-3 final quarter to take the win. Draven Tate led Tracy City with 22 points. Boo Goins followed with eight with two threes. Johnie Atkins scored six. Dakota Schild had two while Cole Johnson and Justice Smartt scored one each. Trey Hampton led Palmer with 11 including a three. Trent Hampton and Noah Callahan scored nine each. Tanner Sanders had two.
