SHELTON, MARY, ELIZABETH, age 85, of Pelham, TN, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at Erlanger Health Systems in Chattanooga, TN. She was born in Sewanee, TN, the daughter of the late Jim L. and Macie Hill Francis. She retired in 1988 from Coffee County Board of Education as a teacher at Hillsboro Elementary School. Prior to retirement, she taught at Manchester City School on College Street, Grundy County High School, and Highland Rim Girl’s School. She was also a home demonstration agent for the UT Extension Office. She loved both Pelham United Methodist Church and Morton Memorial United Methodist Church and was very active in each UMW. She loved to “go” and try new stuff, and was an avid reader. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Wayne Shelton, who passed away in 2004; and one brother, John Francis. Survivors include her sons, Larry (Reeda Kaye) Shelton and Charles Mark Shelton, both of Pelham; one sister, Virginia Ann Thompson of Elton, KY; and two grandchildren, Dustin (Holly) Shelton and Dera Shelton. Funeral services were held Thursday, December 13 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Miriam Seyler, Rev. Gary Bell, and Rev. De Hennessy officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. NUNLEY, JUANITA, PARTIN, age 67, of Monteagle, TN, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. She had worked at the Tennessee Valley Authority office in Chattanooga before retiring. She was born in Manchester, TN, a daughter of the late John William Partin and Geraldine Phipps Partin. Survivors include her husband, Karl David Nunley; children, Michael Kevin Nunley, Nashville; Troy Allan Nunley, Monteagle; Karla Kristy Lockhart, Chattanooga; Jerry Nunley, Monteagle; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 15 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Ben Curtis officiating. Burial was in Plainview Cemetery. OWENS, HENRIETTA, “TINY,” age 73, of Tracy City, Tennessee, passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at Emerald Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee, TN. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Owens; parents, Denver and Katherine Myers. Survivors include her son Russell (Gwynn) Owens, Tracy City, TN; sister, Jo Ann Meeks, Tracy City, TN; grandchildren, Drew Meeks and Summer Owens; nephews, Chester Meeks, Jr. and Ronnie Meeks. Graveside services were held Tuesday, December 18 in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Barry Nolan officiating. Burial was in City Cemetery. RODDY, BRO. ROBERT, “BOB,” BRADFORD, SR., 81, passed away at his home resting peacefully with his family Tuesday morning December 18, 2012. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, retired from Tennessee Consolidated Coal Company and a member of the Chestnut Springs Congregational Methodist Church. He was a pastor of several churches in Grundy County wherever he was needed. He was born in Sewanee, Tennessee on December 7, 1931 and was preceded in death by his mother Lydia Sue Woodlee Roddy along with his son, Russell Reed Roddy; sisters, Margaret Sue Roddy Lawson and Nancy Carlene Roddy Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Billie Ruth Gipson Roddy with whom he had 5 children, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20 in the funeral home chapel of Foster and Lay Funeral home in Tracy City with Pastor Freddie Savage officiating with burial to follow in Plainview Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
